All the pretty things!

I have so much love for this yarn, it’s a bit ridiculous. 😛 I have 4 balls of this gorgeous Eggplant, Marion Foale yarn that is going to turn into something pretty. What is that pretty? You’ll just have to wait and see, won’t you?

Stay tuned!

We’ve been a little quiet here…

So it’s been quiet at this end. I’m still plugging along on the Rowan Mystery KAL, though I’m still working on the squares for week one. I’m not too far behind, so this is good. I’m also only buying the yarn a little at a time because I’m getting more per ball than the pattern had said (and my gauge is fine. WEIRD) and while I love this yarn, my upcoming projects with it are in different colors, so I don’t want a lot extra kicking around.

I actually haven’t done a lot of knitting in the last week or so because I moved just wrong the other day and pinched the sciatic nerve in my back. For a few days, sitting to knit was extremely uncomfortable, so I didn’t. I made friends with the local heating pad and did some reading instead.

It’s finally about out of it, though, which means the knitting will start back up. 😛

Sunday Projects Everywhere!

  1. I’d like to say Happy Easter to those as celebrate it. I’m Pagan, my husband is Atheist and his family observes it more as a family gathering day than a religious day, so we’ll be ending up at the in-law’s for a late brunch in a while.
  2. Is anyone else doing the Rowan Afghan Mystery KAL using their new Pure Wool? I began the first square the other night and am nearly half way done. I’m doing the body in a gorgeous Forest Green and the border in Umber brown. I love the yarn. It’s fantastic to work with and can’t wait to see how it turns out!
  3. Picture:
  4. I also have one lonely sock right now out of my mystery red/gray/white yarn. It’s incredibly comfortable, just a bit lonely as a single sock (I don’t do two-at-a-time). I’m not feeling the on-set of Second Sock Syndrome and the second has been cast on.
  5. Once the socks are taken care of, I have a Marion Foale sweater I want to cast on. It’s rather classy and elegant and will be perfect for me to wear to work once I’ve finished it. I need to have my friend at my LYS help me with some measurements because the model she had didn’t quite fit the way I’d like. I want it a bit longer in body and a bit shorter in sleeve. 😛 I have ridiculous love for the yarn and can’t wait to cast it on!
  6. In case anyone hasn’t noticed, I have a huge fondness for bullets. You have been warned. 😛

Dream Project Coming True

For YEARS, I have wanted to knit up Alice Starmore’s St Brigid sweater. I am utterly in love with Celtic knots, cables, the whole thing. And though I have had the yarn in my stash for ages, I’ve been afraid to start. Last night, I finally cast on. It took me a couple of tries to get the starting row right, but I finally did and now have a whopping three rows done. It took a bit of organizing to figure out how to keep track of my charts, but I think I have that, too.

My hope is to have this done and ready to wear for next winter. LOL

I can’t wait to get home tonight and just be able to sit with it instead of squishing in a couple of rows before work (OMG SO running late today!)

A Life Like Post

Belle wants everyone to know that being a creaky old lady completely stinks. Her arthritis is acting up pretty badly these last few days and I only discovered this morning that she spit out her Tramadol last night (so no wonder she was so unhappy). This morning she did not spit it out and she’s had her heating pad plugged in for a bit. She normally sleeps on the couch (which is low and vet approved), but with her so creaky right now, she’s relegated to the floor and very displeased by this. Every so often she’ll mosey on over to the couch and gaze longingly at her spot, but then she’ll go back to her bed on the floor instead, poor dear.

I really don’t have any kind of knitting update this morning, BUT I played around a bit with positions, light, etc and took a picture of some of my favorite sock yarn in my stash right now. 🙂 That’s as knitting as I get today. I’ll have it on the brain, though, as I just started working at my LYS (oh shucks!).

Also, anyone else love Marion Foale yarns or designs? I’m constantly looking for patterns I can do in 3 ply because the yarn is so gorgeous (and my LYS is THE distributor for it, too!).

If you have non-Rav links/suggestions for patterns, I’m all ears!

Taking time out….

My knitting “corner” has begun to run over and spread, so this morning instead of working on the foot of my current pair of socks, I took a time out to clean and get organized. I have a couple of wicker trunks to hold the bulk of my stash, though there’s a good deal of it in the cabinet as well. 🙂 So I hauled everything into the center of the living room, cleaned and dusted and scrubbed, threw some things away and reorganized.

It’s another WIP…

Amazingly, this time it is for me. *gasp* It’s a pair of socks out of a mystery yarn. I threw the label away. I can’t believe I did that.  Nothing fancy about this pair, just plain stockinette in a yarn that really reminds me of sock monkeys. 🙂 Been a while since I’ve done a gusset heel, but I managed it. It’s not the neatest heel, but they’re for me, so I’m not that worried. 😛
